Inmate Information
Paying Fines and Bonding Procedures
* Cash Bonds
Cash Bonds can be done by family or friends who have the ability to supply the total amount of a particular inmates bond. This can be done by cash, money order or cashier’s check.
Cash accepted for bonds shall be the exact amount.
An additional $15.00 fee is required by the state on the first and second bonds posted on an inmate per jailing, with the maximum of $30.00 per jailing. Class “C” bonds DO NOT carry these charges.
If applicable the courts will refund any money that was not designated to pay fees or fines accrued from the offense.
* Surety Bonds
Surety Bonds are posted by bonding agencies. Family or friends may deal directly with a bonding agent, then that agency will charge you a fee for them to assume the liability of the defendant to make his or her appearance in the desired court of which the charges are pending. The same state fees still apply when posting a surety bond.
* Paying Fines
Fines may be paid out of the inmate’s money account that was created during the booking process if adequate funds are available.
Family or friends may pay fines at the jail window by having the exact cash amount, money order or cashier’s check.
Inmate Visitation
Inmates are required to complete and turn in a visitation form so that their visitors can be updated into the computer. These forms may only be updated every thirty (30) days.
The schedule for visiting inmates is:
Sunday - start at 13:00 hrs (1 pm) until completed
Tuesday - start at 13:00 hrs (1 pm) until completed
Sign-in for family and friends starts at approximately 12:45 hrs on the above days and you must be signed in by 14:30 hrs (2:30 pm) to visit. Any visitor that is signed in will be allowed to visit as long as they abide by our visitation rules.
Inmate Trust Fund/Commissary
All inmates, once they have been booked into custody, will have an account opened in their name. Any money on them at the time of arrest will be entered into this account.
If an inmate remains in custody for an extended period of time you may add money to their account by sending money orders by US Mail to:
Inmates Name, P.O. Box 307, Quitman, Texas 75783
The money will be added to their account. NO CASH will be accepted. Once money is added to an account, it cannot be removed unless the inmate is released from our facility, has medical charges or commissary purchases. Commissary orders are posted in the computer on Wednesday morning. Money orders will need to be in by midnight Tuesday for it to be available for ordering. NO items will be accepted in through the jail window unless it has been pre-approved and these items are not available from the inmate commissary vendor.
Books
If you want to send books to an inmate from Amazon.com or other similar stores, they will ONLY be accepted with the understanding that when received they will be placed in the library in the same area of the inmate they are intended for, and that they become property of the Wood County Jail for all inmates to have access to. If you do not wish to have the books donated to the jail facility, DO NOT send them in.
Magazines, newspapers and other paperback type books are allowed ONLY if they have a subscription to them and they are received directly from the publishing source. Examples are local newspapers, TV Guide and non-sexually explicit magazines.
